ACTIVITY	IS THE LOCATION SUITABLE FOR PRODUCTION?	ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Look around the location.	Yes. All locations are suitable.	No added problems and not many cars around.
Talk to people there, organise filming permissions.	Filming permission only needed at the train station.	Asked train station beforehand. Everything was all ok to film there.
Identify the equipment you need to use.	Film camera. Tripod, Umbrella in case it rains to cover camera. Photo camera to take shots of locations.	Everything packed ready for shooting.
Examine and identify any potential health and safety issues (Both people and equipment related issues e.g. crowd numbers being controlled; using safe cabling practices and video equipment being set up in a sensible location that does not block access points or that damages the environment or frightens livestock)	Only hazards would be the cars coming down the road on the straight mile fast. The costumes:
Sophies school uniform(Black shoes, Black skirt, White Shirt, School tie and blue school jumper) having her in uniform gives her that more innocence which is what i was trying to create:

The mans outfit he wore (black hoodie, Black trainers and Black trousers) with him wearing all black it makes it that bit more scary and having a hoody we cannot see his face which creates suspense and builds up the tension:

Date your needed to film: September 18th 2011(Sunday)
Filming times: Be at fox cottage, the straight mile, shurlock row, berkshire rg100qp At 3:00 in the afternoon. Filming shouldnt take any longer than till 7. Planning to finish before that final time. Please make sure your free during these times and arrive to the film set at least half an hour earlier.(2:30)
Sript scene: All of the script is to be filmed. As only a short teaser trailer.

The address: We are shooting in Shurlock row Village and Twyford station.
Weather information: Looks like a dull day with a little bit of rain, this is going to be difficult if it rains so i would like you all to be very patient and considerate to the weather.
Transport: We have a set car which will transport us all and all the equipment from A to B. So no means of any other transport apart from getting you to the first set meeting point.
Safety Notes: You have signed the safetly insurannce cover and this should cover any problems we face, but if everything runs smoothly(which it will) there is no need to read much into this.
Parking: Please park at the front of the house to avoid traffic blocking.

Genre conventions

The forms of a thriller film show how it is constructed. A thriller usually consists of many story lines and that is why there are often many characters. These dual, triple or narratives create confussion and which commands greater attention be paid to the film to truly understand, this is what makes a thriller a thriller. Famous thriller directors such as Quentin Tarentino often use the multiple story line such as in Pulp Fiction.

Another convention of thrillers are flash backs, often they are used at the begining or the end of a film to give the viewer insight in to the character or simply explain the present story line. An excellent example of this would be Kill Bill, although flash backs run all through out the film they're purpose is to portray and explain the start of the story line / give insight in to Uma Thurman's charcter.

Psuedo documentary is not so much a convention but style of some thrillers. This is when the charcters are seemingly the ones filming the entire movie usually through a hand held camera. An example of this would be Cloverfield. This kind of filming style does add a diffrent dimesion to the film as it no longer seems like a Hollywood film but seems more real. This style can be very effectuve however many argue the purposely amature footage is taxing and a nuscence to watch.

Over all the main conventions of a thriller are multiple plot lines, unexpected twists, both ordinary and extraodinary and may include ironic endings and intelligent story lines. However the avarage thriller usually contains a fair bit of action for impact. The classic example of a thriller would be Hitchcock's Phsyco.

BRAINSTORM AND IDEA GENERATION:

Zainab and I came up with 3 framework ideas for our teaser, and then chose the one we both liked the most.


Idea #1

Our first idea was to create a teaser for a horror film. We were going to exploit the resources of our college and film it in the woods on site, we also intended to to film on a handheld camera to achieve a blair witch effect with the shaking of the camera. Our basic story line revolved around a group of friends who would wonder in to the woods, get split up and killed off one by one by a mysterious cloaked figure.

Idea #2
Our second idea was a comedy film teaser loosely based on The Hangover. Which we would film in various locations around Henley. There would be 4 main characters all of whom would participate in embarrassing scenes in which they revealed each of their primary individual character traits. For instance one character would have been an extreme pessimist, whilst another a lovable rogue. The basic story line would be the 4 friends on their final day of college attempting to have the best day/night of their lives to mark the start of summer, which of course would entail in them getting up to satirical hi-jinx.

Idea #3

Our final idea was a thriller teaser loosely based on Hard Candy. We would have filmed the trailer in and around the Twyford area where there are ominous locations but also everyday ones such as parks and train stations which would look well on camera and create verisimilitude. The main plot would ave been about a young young girl who starts talking to a boy online, things would soon take a turn for the strange and she would soon find out that he is in fact a middle aged man with sinister intentions. The trailer would be full of suspense and fast paced ambiguous scenes

character development

For my Character sophie:

She is a very vunerable young girl there is no two sides to her, shes simpley a young school girl trying to work out life. When i was trying to create her personality and character i needed to decide exactly what her intentions where because i one of my genre focus films the young girl who is talking to the olderman on the internet in (HardCandy) Ellen Page plays a girl who we think first is the victim but it turns around that she was the one watching him knowing he was a pedophile and she was stopping at nothing to stop him. Ending the film with her(The little girl) having all the power of the protagonisits. This is not what i wanted my character to be like. I wanted her simpley the victim she had no other intentions so i think the best character you could compare my character to is the 14-year-old Annie in the film TRUST.

             Character Annie

This character is the victim throughout the whole film, this is a comparrision to my character. She is at school, only 14 years old and she only began talkin online to a guy when she got a laptop for her birthday.  her life becomes a nightmare however she doesnt die whereas my character doesnt get out so lightly. My character is the focus of this film So her part is cruical to play and my actress i have choosen must know exactly how she is meant to be, My actress for the role of 'Sophie' Is called Jessica. She is infact 14 years old which helps her to have a more relation to the character:

 

FOR MY UNKNOWN PHSYCO CHILD KILLER 'ONLINE' MAN:

For my man it was quite hard to relate him to any character as we never see his face and he never speaks to he is this unkown figgure who could infact be anyone. I wanted him to be a mystery which makes the trailer that bit scarier because we dont know who's she's dealing with. The hood up is to create that mystery and because you cant see his face you feel almost threatned, think if i was a lonly long round or a dark night and you saw someone with his hood up following you, you would feel very vunerable and threatened rather then someone whos face you can see. Look at how intimidating these three guys look with their hoods up:

Its the unknown which scares us. This is exactly what i want my man character to have. Mystery, unknowing and to feel threating and creepy.
